Radio is Dead

In the past year I've discovered and listened to a lot of podcasts. I find I've got a lot of subscriptions, and spend most of my days at work listening to them.

When I sold my car a few weeks ago, I lost the stereo I had with the iPod interface, so I had to go back to terrestrial radio. Jeebus. The commercials were so thick that I couldn't stand it. In the morning, on the drive to work, I tabbed through every station I could find and not a single one was playing music. Nothing but ads and annoying voiced DJs yapping nonsense.

From my podcasts, I get focused content, created by people who are passionate about the subjects they're talking about. A few years ago, they were very amateur, but today, most of them are quite polished and the hosts know how to carry and conversation without too much dead air, There are no FCC regulations, so they can swear, be politically incorrect and say pretty much whatever they want. Most of them don't have sponsors or management that they're beholden to, and that's a beautiful thing.

That being said, I'll spotlight a few of my favorites that I enjoy listening to this week. All of them can be downloaded for free in iTunes, and most likely various places on the web.

Humorous Pictures
