Tanking Impressions - week 1
I've completed my first week doing instances on my warrior tank, and it's been very different from the DPS classes I've played!
I dusted off Tempus at level 62 and re-specced her for protection. I'm now level 65 and have been doing nothing but the dungeon finder. I've gotten quite a few blue drops, so her gear is taking a step up. My rotation is pretty solid, and I'm getting better at holding aggro and grabbing mobs.
It's been a challenge when I get grouped with other warriors or death knights who seem intent on taking aggro. I see it as a challenge and see if I can get it back. There have been a few higher level DPS classes who have just blasted the crap out of things and made my job pretty tough, but for the most part, it's been very smooth.
I've gotten a few complements, and some requests to continue into other groups. I've also been blamed for not going fast enough, for going too fast, for letting runners get away, and not seeing a patrol sneak up on the healer in the back.
In short, it's been a very high-profile job and much more responsibility than when I was doing DPS. I still love the warlock class best, but this has been a pleasant change of pace and refreshed my interest in the game. I hope to at least get her into Northrend.
