Summer Festival has begun!
The Midsummer Fire Festival has begun, and for the first time, we have access to the holiday boss through the dungeon finder. This morning, I already killed Frost Lord Ahune on both my warlock Skulfrak and my Paladin Carrara, and each picked up the two additional frost badges. I also ran the daily heroic on each, so 4 frost badges a day for about 45 minutes isn't bad!
Last year, I skipped Ahune. It was too much of a pain to go stand in the Slave Pens in Zangermarsh and try and find other people, advertising who still was able to summon or not, and then trudge through the dungeon. Now, you just click the button in the dungeon finder and you're transported right to that spot, along with other people from outside your realm. It's fast, and you can re-queue as many times as you like.
Ahune drops item level 232 cloaks. Most of them aren't very good unless you're a fresh level 80 or an under-geared alt. But, the first time you kill him, once per day, you can get a sachel of chilled goods, which contains two emblems of Frost, and chance for a special pet or a mount.
From you bag, you have a random chance of getting -
the mini pet Frigid Frostling
the Frostscythe of Lord Ahune spell staff
Ahune drops a shard which you can turn in one time only for a special tabard and some fire blossoms.
Some people may argue that he's too easy now, with the dungeon finder. He certainly takes less time, and is easy enough to do on all of your eligible alts. What do you think of this method for holiday bosses?
